Lightning

{FINAL FANTASY XIII}

Important. He looks up to her all the time and believes that if anyone can make things better, if anyone can do something about anything, she can. Lightning and strong and knowledgeable, and Hope will continually look toward her for what to do. She's his mentor and standard, and he wants to be stronger for her so he doesn't disappoint her and so he can protect her the way he knows she's always protecting him.

Vanille

{FINAL FANTASY XIII}

Vanille is kind and cheerful and he can always count on her to not only cheer him up, but be there for him as well. Maybe it's because they went through the Purge together, maybe it's because he's alive only because she pushed and shoved him to keep moving, maybe because she was the one who stopped for him whenever he fell, and maybe it's a little bit because he genuinely adores her and likes seeing her happy. The day's just better and the sun brighter when Vanille's smiling. It was Vanille who wheedled him through the toughest time of his life, and Vanille who pulled him out of the wreckage in Haven North; Vanille who stayed with him when Kite started killing people around town. He truly, genuinely, loves her. Maybe not in the romantic way except for the puppy crush that he's joking off, but he's starting to understand why Fang would tear down the sky for her.

Claire

{RESIDENT EVIL}
★ ★ ★ ★

Claire is the person he'd go to if he needed someone to talk to, to share something with, or just to sit with when he doesn't want to be by himself. They've been through being held hostage at the hospital together, and running from monsters together... he's so, so glad to have met her at Haven, even if it feels selfish to want her with him in a place like this. He kind of adores her in the same way he adores Vanille, and will fight to make sure she's safe and happy.

Cousland

{DRAGON AGE}
★ ★ ★

His roommate and the first person he spoke to in Haven. She seems to know him more than he knows about her, which makes him cautious. But at the same time, she's been looking out for him this entire time, and came to look for him in the hospital even when everyone else had gone crazy. Just having her around is definitely climbing up his ranks of good things about Haven. She came after him for the subway as well, and he's starting to realize that maybe he's important to her... which in turn, makes her really important to him. He doesn't quite understand it, but he's definitely slowly gravitating toward her.

Jack

{RISE OF THE GUARDIANS}

The older boy is-- different. He seems really concerned about having fun and making sure people enjoy themselves, and despite everything about how Hope's trying to grow up and take things more seriously, he-- he likes the cheer and the fun and magic that Jack brings. It's a completely different magic than what he's used to, nothing at all to do with wars and battles and doomed consequences. Haven's altogether too gloomy without that sort of magic and fun. ALTHOUGH DAMMIT JACK, STOP PRANKING HIM.

Bethany

{DRAGON AGE}
★ ★ ★

Roommate and... she reminds him of Claire, actually. Kind, caring, and sweet; always willing to help out and always with a smile. She's also open with her magic and Hope finds that equal parts disquieting and inspiring. While he had been a little nervous around her at first mostly because she seemed so openly friendly and bright, Bethany now seems like a vital presence in Haven. She cooks for them and makes sure no one's spirits got too low, and it wasn't until she disappeared after Kite's threats that Hope really freaked out during the event.

Malik

{ASSASSIN'S CREED}

To be honest, the first time Hope actually thought about the man had been when Dr. Kite had been trying to drive seeds of doubt about Malik into Hope's head. It's only after the event that he felt really bad about doubting him, and even more so when he responded about helping people. They talked about... magic, and Hope said a lot that he hadn't told anyone else in Haven. After that, Malik is almost a guiding calm. The man is even-tempered and knows what he's doing, and it really doesn't matter to Hope that he's only got one arm.

Tohru

{FRUITS BASKET}

...Here's one who definitely snuck up on him. Tohru's sweet and so very nice and friendly that Hope almost doesn't know what to do with her, other than to keep her safe in what way he can. The way she is, he feels like it's okay to let her know about the magic, rather than have it exposed by some unfortunate circumstance. He gave her his knife before she left with the rescue group as something he hopes will help protect her, even in the tiniest of ways.

Glenn

{THE WALKING DEAD}
★ ★

Glenn is a roommate and from a zombie world like Claire, except he claims it's not like Claire's. He is also extremely upbeat and seems far too inquisitive on subjects Hope would rather stay away from, which lead to a shaky start, but they seem to have come to an understanding over food, hot water, and teaching. Their personalities might continue to clash, but with them rooming together, it's almost like family in a way: being forced to deal with each other, sometimes when they're actually working together or sometimes when Hope just doesn't want to talk to anyone.

Izumo

{AO NO EXORCIST}
★ ★

Extremely serious. He first met her outside the convenience store before the attack, and then again after the monsters came out of the subway. She seems to access situations in a manner that allows for him to trust her judgement even without knowing her all that well. If she says it can be done, maybe it really can be done. Also, it helps that she was the first person to offer to help him go after the people in the subway. That's not forgotten. Also has a tendency to pull him back from dangerous situations, even if it's physically and a bit violently (but he should really be used to that by now).

Kida

{DURARARA}
★ ★

They originally conspired to find out more about the town when Hope showed him the picture he had found in the hospital, but then the convenience store and their shared experiences there meant that Hope's going to be looking out for the older teen now. Kida had taken the deaths there just as badly as he had, but while Hope had lashed out and gone through a myriad of emotions in the weeks following to heal, Kida seems the type to bottle it all up until he broke. Which is something Hope doesn't want to see happen.

{FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST}
★

Optimist! And Al sounds around his age, which makes the optimist part rarer and all the better. More than Hope, Al seems to genuinely believe that things will be okay, and that's something Hope wants to hold on to... if not for himself, then for others.

Kyouko

{MADOKA MAGICA}
★

She's-- strong. Sweet. Kind. Always traits that attract his attention, but she also happens to be closer to his age (and his height!), which makes him treat her more like a peer rather than someone he has to constantly prove himself to. She offered to protect people and then went with him on the journey to the subway.

{FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST}
★

Ed's got a gruff attitude and way of caring that Hope acknowledges, but he doesn't seem to understand things from outside his own viewpoint. And Hope can't afford that sort of narrow vision, not anymore, not when he understands that every action taken affects someone else and fighting isn't always the answer. He figures Ed has always been the one running into situations, and never the one who had to stay behind because he just doesn't understand what it's like to be the one who has to face the consequences of someone else's failure.

Altair

{ASSASSIN'S CREED}
★

Quick, brusque, no nonsense, and seems to have some amazing physical skill. It's certainly reminding him of someone else he knows, and as such, it's almost instinct to stop and listen when the man speaks. He's getting that the man is extremely jaded, and so Hope is almost determined to prove him wrong about how bad the world really is.

Hayley

{ORIGINAL}

They run into each other time and again during terrible times but part on good terms, which is something he really values. She's got a calm and steady head and always seems very in control. It's something he quite admires, even if he might get irritated every time she warns him away from danger after he's already made up his mind to dive right in.

Tony

{MARVEL}
★

It's obvious that the man thinks of Hope as a helpless kid that needs picking up after if no one else is going to do it. Not that he actually needs it, but he does understand that Tony doesn't approve of him taking risks that kids shouldn't be taking, but they currently just don't know each other well enough for Hope to be more cautious just to dissuade his concerns. And he's snarky enough about it that Hope can just manage to ignore most of the exasperation by ignorance, anyway. He's torn between indignation and relief from when Tony literally took him away from the group of decapitated bodies, and hasn't yet spoken up about that.

{PANDORA HEARTS}

Cheerful, upbeat, and helpful. He volunteered so fast the first time Hope needed help for a dangerous plan that he wasn't even sure what to make of it, but after that despite them only meeting occasionally, Oz has been even tempered and helpful in the worst situations Haven has to throw. Hope appreciated the help he got from the other when Kite started killing people, and he's more willing to go to him for help later on, and to help in return.

{DARKER THAN BLACK}
★

Hope only knows him as the nice and somewhat quiet student caught up in this place. They spoke and talked about worlds and people and wars. He has noticed, however, the different tones that "Li" takes, especially back when he asking for help storming the subway. This one is definitely more than just what be plays, although Hope doesn't think that's a bad thing.

Lancer

{FATE SERIES}

...They might have gotten off to a bad start, accusing each other of a guilt neither could define over the phone, but after the entire misunderstanding at the hospital was cleared up... Lancer is nice. And he actually knows about Hope's magic and not only didn't mind, but it didn't seem to change his perception of Hope at all. Not to mention, he helped with the subway fight even though he was injured, volunteering to protect people to the best of his abilities.

Margot

{ORIGINAL}

She's the one who warned him about writing in town, and then accepted his help after the hospital incident. That automatically puts her in good books for him because she accepts help and warns people about stuff -- which is better than him, who had been afraid to speak up and too stubborn to take help from people the first while. Not to mention, she was there after his mom's death and made sure he didn't lose it too badly, and then took charge when the monsters came out of the subway. To date, he's managed to actually tell her about what a l'Cie is.

Charles

{X-MEN: FIRST CLASS}
★ ★

Someone else he met in the hospital, and then casually conversed with from time to time, although Charles is a little different because the man's actually sought him out to make sure he was okay, which is something Hope's not used to unless it's his canonmates or Claire. That bumps him up quite a bit, making it so that Hope feels like he needs to prove he's worth the attention that Charles is giving him, even if it might only because Hope's a kid.

Asami

{LEGEND OF KORRA}
★

They ran into each other when the monsters spilled out of the subway, and she had dropped everything to help him escape the horde that had been chasing him. As such, he has a feeling she sees him as a helpless kid, but he hasn't had the time to change that perception yet.
